Boulder County Horse Association events connect hundreds of horse people together to meet, greet, educate, and celebrate Boulder County’s horse community.
BCHA presents several educational seminars a year. Sometimes we partner with other organizations to present the most professional information available. Most BCHA seminars are free for BCHA members and $15 for non-members (which may be applied to the cost of membership on that day). For non-BCHA events please refer to their materials or management. Location: Boulder County Courthouse, 1325 Pearl St. Boulder
Description: Boulder County Transportation is proposing changes to the Fourth of July Road at Hessie, including widening the road, free shuttle service from the HS on weekends and holidays, new signage, and increased parking enforcement.
Nary a word of their longstanding promise to us of horse trailer parking on the "David Property" which Boulder County acquired FOR ADDITIONAL PARKING!!! Equestrians used to be able to park at Hessie itself, which is a great jumping-off point for the Indian Peaks Wilderness (Lost Lake, King Lake, Betty & Bob Lakes, Skyscraper Reservoir, Woodland Lake, Devils Thumb Trail & Pass, and many other nice places). Horse people can no longer go there, merely because we can no longer park there.
There will be three public meetings on this topic: a Public Meeting on Tuesday April 24 at the Nederland HS (597 County Road 130), 6pm; an Open House on Tuesday May 8 at the Boulder County Courthouse (1325 Pearl St Boulder), 4:30-7pm; and the final Commissioners' Public Hearing, Tuesday May 22, 2pm, Boulder County Courthouse (1325 Pearl St Boulder).
Please plan to attend these meetings and let the County know that you want your historic equestrian access to the Indian Peaks back!
Public comments will be accepted online at http://www.HessieTrailhead.com until May 11.
